organizing the kitchen cabinetsOrganizing the kitchen cabinets can be a tricky task. Once a week,  most of us declutter the kitchen cabinets, having everything packed and lined up nicely. In my case, this is short-lived.

As I use the cabinet contents, it becomes impractical to keep everything neat and organized.

It does not help when you are not the only one using the kitchen. Kids,  in particular, never seem to know where to put things in kitchen cabinets.

We are in luck though, because we now have kitchen cabinet organization solutions that keep everything neat and tidy!

Organizing the kitchen cabinets is one area where compartmentalizing works beautifully.

Let’s face, not all of us have separate pantries in our homes.  Pantry (grocery) cabinets are much more common for storing family groceries. A pantry cabinet is a genius because it optimizes your existing kitchen space, and tends to fit in such a compact manner with the rest of your kitchen. It is also easy to organize kitchen pantry cabinets and shelving.

A few storage containers, shelving and baskets will do the trick in organizing the kitchen cabinets.  The neat idea that I haven’t implemented in my home is the over-door hanging rack system.  What better way to maximize storage space in one’s kitchen?

Organize narrow kitchen cabinets

It can be a challenge to organize narrow kitchen cabinets, however a few tricks, with the help of sliders would work just well for you.  Notice how this storage rack can slide into almost any space.  It is a standalone, therefore can fit inside a cabinet, or just at an unused space in your kitchen.

Narrow kitchen cabinet spaces are irritating as things fall out a lot. Installing a barrier inset on the shelves will ensure that things remain where they belong.

Using the pull out drawers is brilliant when organizing kitchen cabinets that are narrow and slim.  If you observe carefully, you will notice that the cabinet is now as efficient (if not more) than the broadly shaped ones.  If the cabinet had shelves, it would be an organization nightmare.

You can find a variety of pull out drawers and racks here.  It is important to get the proper measurements  before buying any of them. There’s no need for you to hire labor, as they come with simple instructions. They are the drag and drop of the carpenter world.

Organize kitchen cabinets with glass doors

We can hide the rest of the kitchen cabinet clutter, but it impossible if the cabinets have glass doors. It is easy to organize kitchen cabinets with glass doors:

  • Glass doors on kitchen cabinets tend to be on the upper end of your units. Plan your kitchen cabinet organization such that only the crockery and glassware go up to the glass door space.  They are easy to pack and organize. You stack the dinner plates, saucers, and side plates, and line up the cups and glasses.
  • I installed some glass doors on my kitchen cabinets for no other reason except that  I wanted to display some beauty.  To keep that beauty, it is imperative that you keep the crockery and glassware to the minimum.
  • We can’t always get what we want, especially if you found the house with glass door kitchen cabinets already. If you find yourself having to store grocery items on these cabinets, proper food storage containers (with labels) may be able to keep everything neat and tidy, and still easy on the eye.
  • Cookbooks, and recipe binders wouldn’t look bad inside the glass doors, as long as they are properly filed.
